Oran Pre-Cast provided offsite structural solutions for the Old War Building office conversions in Westminster.
|Client||Hinduja Group / OHL Developments|
|Main Contractor||Toureen Group|
|Onsite Duration||9 Months|
The façade-retaining conversion of the Ministry of Defence’s Old War Office into hotel and flats required extensive use of offsite production due to obvious site limitations. Oran Precast provided vertical structural elements above ground, including columns for No. 7 levels, walls and stairs for No. 6 Cores.
Key design and organisational aspects include:
Coordination procedures to draw, produce a significant number of different column types.
Evaluation of structural and fire models for vertical and raking columns.
Transport and lifting procedures engaging with extremely limited access and storage area.
In addition to fulfilling the critical requirement for offsite construction, Oran Precast timely delivered its products in such guise that they would be lifted into position by the Contractor straight on arrival. Among these products were No. 435 column members with few duplications, that were virtually produced error-free.
